Frequently asked questions

What is the pomodoro technique?+

A time-management method that repeats sets of 25 focused minutes plus 5 of rest. The low bar of 'just 25 minutes' beats procrastination, and the forced breaks prevent burnout. A longer 15–30 minute break every 4 sets is recommended.

Do I have to use 25/5?+

No — tune it to your focus span: 50/10 for deep work, 15/3 for short bursts. The ratio matters less than mechanically repeating the focus-rest rhythm.

What if I miss a transition?+

A 5-second chime marks each switch, and the cycle continues on its own either way. The tab title always shows the current phase and time left.

Is it accurate in a background tab?+

Yes. The countdown is anchored to the wall-clock end time rather than accumulated ticks, so browser tab throttling never makes it drift.

Is it really free?+

Yes. No sign-up, no install, no usage limits. The site is ad-supported.

Guide

Making pomodoros stick

Do one thing per pomodoro; jot down interruptions and handle them in the next one. During breaks, get your eyes off the screen — stretch, drink water, look out the window. Rested eyes make the next focus block better.

Track your daily 🍅 count for a week and you'll learn your real focus capacity — for most people, 8–12 per day is the honest ceiling.
