Frequently asked questions

Can I tweak the duration?+

Sure — edit the minute and second fields before starting; 2 h is just pre-filled. Other presets are linked below.

Is it accurate in a background tab?+

Yes. The countdown is anchored to the wall-clock end time rather than accumulated ticks, so browser tab throttling never makes it drift.

How does fullscreen work?+

Hit the Fullscreen button and the countdown fills the whole screen — perfect for classroom TVs and projectors, presentation practice and exam timing. Press ESC to exit.

I don't hear the alarm.+

Browsers only allow sound after you've interacted with the page. Pressing Start enables it automatically, so if you started the timer normally the alarm will ring. Also check your device volume and mute switch.

What if my screen turns off?+

While running, the page requests a screen Wake Lock. Support varies by device and browser, so for critical timers keep the screen on.

Is it really free?+

Yes. No sign-up, no install, no usage limits. The site is ad-supported.

Guide

When a 2 h timer helps

2 h covers long-form activities: class periods and lectures, timed exam practice, baking and oven dishes, laundry cycles, full workout routines.

Long timers live in background tabs — and because this one is anchored to the wall clock, hours of neglect cost it zero accuracy.

Why it stays accurate

Naive web timers subtract one second per tick and drift by minutes in background tabs. This one fixes the end time the moment you press Start and always displays the difference from the actual clock — leave the tab alone as long as you like, it won't drift.
